Biography

Gonçalo's practice spans composition, production, curation, and outreach, frequently working across disciplines to merge art and activism. He has led numerous collaborations that fuse music with visual art, social themes, and lived experience.

In 2024, he launched the Red Ribbon Project, a multidisciplinary initiative funded by Tŷ Cerdd and Arts Council Wales, which explores the history and stigma surrounding HIV through music, visual art, and community dialogue. The project features a commissioned score, large-scale portraiture, and a national outreach programme — including workshops for schools on Using Music and Art to Explore HIV – Past, Present & Future.

His work is rooted in empathy and representation, often collaborating with artists from marginalised communities. Gonçalo is committed to creating inclusive spaces for artistic exploration that are socially conscious, accessible, and transformative.

He is currently also co-developing Canvas of Emotions, a participatory live performance project exploring human emotion through sound, movement, and visual expression — further affirming his commitment to cross-disciplinary storytelling.
